If karma's meant to get you back for all the mistakes you've had And if comedians are there to make you laugh If Woolworths is a grocery store And the radio tells you the score And rehab helps out psychopaths And if a long amount of time Gets a man out of a life of crime and if maccas just makes you fatter If everything has its purpose in the world then what do I matter? There's no point trying to argue with myself Coz I know I'll end up calling it quits People say everyone has a purpose but I'm not sure if I fully know what mine is If I was to die suddenly the world wouldn't even know anything I wouldn't have made a scratch coz the ones who go down in history are the ones who've done amazing things And I don't think that I'd be capable of that If its all about being famous without falling off the social ladder then I'm left still wondering what do I matter? Not everybody on this earth Can be big and famous at birth If only it were that way But those pop stars need followers Who play their music to their grand daughters Coz they appreciate what the song is tryna say One of these days I'll write a song And the crowd will be able to sing along I'll be the gossip and the chatter But there's no point, coz in a few years What will I matter? There's no point trying to argue with myself Coz I know I'll end up calling it quits People say everyone has a purpose but I'm not sure if I fully know what mine is If I was to die suddenly the world wouldn't even know anything I wouldn't have made a scratch coz the ones who go down in history are the ones who've done amazing things And I don't think that I'd be capable of that If it's all about being famous without falling off the social ladder then I'm left still wondering What do I matter? Its been good life for me Branched out started a family I even bought a new house Oh but that was 30 years ago And the only reason that we moved was because of that stupid mouse If I had my time again I would've done something crazy like Become a professional rapper Because there's one question that bothers me What did I matter? If I was to die suddenly the world wouldn't even know anything I wouldn't have made a scratch coz the ones who go down in history are the ones who've done amazing things And I don't think that I'd be capable of that If it's all about being famous without falling off the social ladder then I'm left still wondering What did I matter?

about

Aiga Alofa

The idea for this project came from discussions we had about family and the role it plays in our lives. Over the years we’ve written songs about each other, mainly poking fun at each other but some of the songs also acknowledges the challenges being in a family brings. It’s not easy getting along with family all the time but the lessons we’ve learnt thus far is that it’s easy love those whom you have things in common but more difficult with those who don’t. As a human family we need to learn to accept, understand and appreciate each other’s story and behave in a manner that is respectful of their journey.

‘Aiga is a word in the Samoan language which means 'family.' The ʻAiga is the family unit of Samoan society and differs from the Western sense in that it consists of more than just a mother, father and children. The Samoan family, also referred to as an 'extended family' is based on the culture's communal structure. ʻAiga consists of a wider family group of blood and adopted connections.
